Silent Bloom by Lana Scoville

$2,200.00

Silent Bloom reflects the delicate and complex processes of unseen growth. It speaks to the quiet, yet powerful evolution that happens beneath the surface. In nature, blooms emerge after long, unseen processes underground, where roots stretch, seeds germinate and life gathers strength that leads to profound beauty. My work aims to capture the beauty and grandeur of nature whilst respecting the complexity and fragility of our environment.
Silent Bloom is a Tapestry Weavings using naturally dyed cotton, wool, silk and twine and hand made ceramics. Using red onions skins and black tea, I created many subtle shades that I then meticulously weaved into the work. The colours are muted and earthy to reflect underground growth.

Like this piece, my process in the studio is slow and contemplative, which allows me to let the work reveal itself. I forage for local leaves, foodscraps and flowers to create all my colour which I feel infuses life and depth into my work, revealing subtle nuanced layers of meaning.
